Welcome to Karen Halpern's page. You can use this site to find information about specific Business classes as well as general information about the Business programs at South Puget Sound Community College.
This page was designed to provide information about the classes I teach. For classes that are being taught this quarter, I have included the syllabus and other class material. That can include study guides, assignments, or grading rubrics. The content of each class page will vary depending on what we're doing in that class during the quarter.
There is also a list of courses that I will teach but may not be teaching this quarter. If you click on the link for that class, you will be told that it is not currently being offered and when we expect to offer it again.
This page contains a modest amount of information about classes that are offered in the Business department that are taught by others. You can find those classes listed on the right sidebar under "Other BUS courses." Be sure to contact your instructor directly for questions about those courses.
The page also contains general information about the two types of Business degrees at SPSCC. There are links to the degrees on the right hand side of this page.
The Associate in Business/DTA allows students to apply for admission in the College of Business at a four-year university. We often refer to this degree as the AB/DTA.
The Associate in Applied Science/Business Administration degree is a technical degree designed to help you learn skills that you will apply directly in small or medium sized businesses. We often refer to this degree as the Business Administration AAS.
There are currently two certificates that are part of the Business Administration AAS: the Business Operations Certificate and the Financial Services Certificate. You'll find more information about those programs on the Business Administration AAS program description page.
